... requires the eliminiation of hazardous NOx-emissions, in the first step for all newbuildings from the year 2000 on. This demand is one of the most important challanges for the future. The compact CD-WiDE™ Emulsification system is a cost-effective and functional plant. It requires only little installation space compared to other solutions and no specific engine modifications. So the CD-WiDE™ System, developed and patented by S.I.T GmbH, is a practically proven and beneficial solution for both newbuildings and retrofitting purposes. The use of a stable water-in-diesel-emulsion is the easiest way to achieve a significant NOx-reduction. With the great advantage, that it can be used for all kind of diesel engines from slow speed 2-stroke to high speed 4-stroke engines, without rising fuel consumption.
The portion of water is one indication to judge the reducing effect. 1% of water added to the fuel lowers the NOx-formation by also 1%. But only when completely emulsified to the fuel.
Presently there is just one economic and practically proven way to produce the required emulsion, the CD-WiDE™ System, based on the CD92™ Conditioning Device. Since early 1997 numerous installations have been carried out and all units are presently fully in operation. The CD-WiDE™ System is the effective, economic and beneficial solution to operate both existing ships and newbuildings in accordance to the IMO 2000 NOx-limitations.

Advantages:

  • reduced NOx-Emissions acc. to MARPOL Annex VI NOx-technical code
  • improved combustion quality usable for slow-speed 2-stroke and medium / high-speed 4-stroke engines
  • no increase in fuel consumption
  • usable from light to heavy fuels
  • usable for both existing ships and newbuildings
  • Plus, ...all the advantages of the established CD-CI System
